Hogsback is surrounded by three dams: Binfield Dam in the Thyume Valley, Robinson Dam on the way to the Yellowwood Forest and the Plaatjieskraal Dam, which supplies some of Hogsback's drinking water.
Plaatjieskraal Dam The huge Sandile Dam is only 35 minutes drive, and is excellent for bass fishing. No canoes are available for hire at this stage. Bring your own! A fishing club has recently been formed, with its base at the Misty Mountain Coffee Barn, past the Chapel. Information on fishing is available from Ron Dawson (mobile 082 806 1340) or Tim Willats (mobile 082 458 6439). Binfield Dam, in the Thyume Valley, has rich stocks of bass and even eels.
